I Thought I Had to Choose Between My Hair and My Scalp
I’m not usually the one to post about my personal life. But when you’ve lost handfuls of your hair and feel like no one truly understands what’s going on under that thick bun you’ve been hiding for months… you start to feel like maybe someone out there needs to hear this:
So here’s what no one tells you about scalp psoriasis:
It doesn’t just make your head itchy, flaky, and painful.
It makes you feel unfixable.
I had tried everything
Coal tar shampoos that made my scalp burn and my hair brittle.
Steroid creams that helped… until they didn’t.
Natural remedies like tea tree oil, apple cider vinegar, and CBD serums.
Every anti-dandruff shampoo on the drugstore shelf.
Some made it worse.
Others made my hair fall out.
And worst of all—none of them lasted.
"You’re just stressed," they said.
"It’s hormonal."
"Maybe it’s just something you’ll have to manage."
But “managing” meant always wearing certain clothes so the flakes didn’t show.
“Managing” meant not brushing too hard so more hair wouldn’t fall out.
“Managing” meant accepting that my hair and scalp couldn’t be healthy at the same time.
